Cambodia
will implement pension policy as of 2015 for workers who are members of the
National Social Security Fund (NSSF) from 20 years on.
Minister
of Labor and Vocational Training Ith Sam Heng said that by 2035 all male and
female workers, who would be the members of the NSSF, would have easy life
after their retirement. He called on the workers to join the NSSF to get health
and life insurance benefits in case of any occupational accidents, and said
that at present all civil servants and military personnel receive retirement
pensions.
The
workers are entitled to receive the pensions only if they become the NSSF
members and pay contributions to NSSF for at least 60 months during the last 10
years and when they reach the age of 55 years, they will get the pensions. The
NSSF has up to now some 840,000 members, of them 72% are female workers.
