Cambodia‘s
Ministry of Commerce began discussing with relevant ministries and institutions
to draft the food law in order to protect the consumers’ interest and safety.
The food
law will protect the safety of consumers from any dangers caused by foods. The
drafting of this law will respond to the strengthening of the standard of food
quality and safety in the country. A Representative of Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Cambodia, confirmed that FAO will
provide technical support to Cambodia in consolidating the quality and safety
of foods while the country is preparing to be part of the ASEAN Economic
Community by 2015.
