Cambodia enjoys tourism growth

Cambodia’s tourist arrivals registered an increase of 8.6% in April. The country attracted 361,139 trips compared to 332,690 during the same month last year. Vietnam led the field with 89,907 visits up 14.2%. Other markets in the top five were: China (54,800; +30.9%); South Korea (27,746; +8.6%); Thailand (24,397; +31.7%); and Laos (22,584; -4.2%).

Border provinces OK $60M in Thai deals

Businesses and government officials from border provinces in Cambodia and Thailand signed 31 deals in Siem Reap last week, in a bid to increase contract farming agreements and boost cross-border trade. More than 90 Cambodian and 50 Thai businesses partook in a business matchmaking event last week, resulting in nearly $60 million in trade deals, including agreements for contract farming of cassava, cashew and mangoes.

40 Companies Display Products for Sale in China

Some 40 companies from provinces and municipality across the country have displayed their products for sale in China, as this country is a big market for Cambodia. In 2014, Cambodia-China trade exchange volume was recorded at US$3,757 million. Cambodia’s exports to China were amounted to US$483 million last year, up 33%.

Cambodia To Spend US$20 Million on Local Agro-Food Production Project

The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries have been discussing a US$20 million-worth project to boost the local agro-food production, aiming to improve production capacity, strengthen food safety, and reduce vegetable and fruit import from abroad, which will begin in 2016.
