ZTE goes for No 5 in Thai smartphone market

CHINESE smartphone manufacturer ZTE aims to be one of the top five brands in Thailand next year after launching its Axon series. Thailand is the third market to get ZTE's first global flagship model, following the US and China. ZTE introduced its own smartphone brand in October.

Centre aims to bolster women entrepreneurship

Capital’s port on course for IPO

Cambodia’s second-largest port to consider its eligibility to list and trade its securities on the stock exchange. CSX will issue the permission in principle. PPAP will submit to the Securities Exchange Commission of Cambodia for final approval and use the funds it raises in a public offering to finance the second stage of development of a new port.

Cambodian consumers are queuing up to get their hands on the latest models of the iPhone, with some local grey-market retailers. Apple Inc will launch its new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus handsets in 12 international markets on September 25. Marketing manager of iOne, warned that iPhones purchased on the grey market are more costly and come without a warranty.

Filipinos use English skills, easygoing nature to take over world’s kitchens

Beating inheritance tax

The inheritance tax law will take effect on February 1, but wealthy families can keep taxmen away from their fortunes by setting up holding companies. All the inherited can benefit from the family assets. Yet, this is not inheritance, but the pool of assets, which are not allocated to descendants. Asian Development Bank to revise down GDP projection for Thailand

Thailand's GDP for 2015 from the current 2.9-3.0 percent because of disappointing first-half numbers, while the latest government stimulus package would help the economy, it would not be enough to offset the lowering of the ADB's growth prediction. Cambodia to pass on Philippines’ rice tender

State-owned agriculture company Green Trade said yesterday that it will not participate in the latest Philippine government’s rice auction as Cambodia’s rice cannot compete on price with neighbouring Thailand and Vietnam. Cambodia has the quality to compete, but would still run at a loss if it were to drop its prices to below that of Vietnam, due to the higher costs of production and exports.

Economy shrank 1.2% in second quarter as weak consumption, exports hit GDP

In inflation-adjusted terms, revised upward from preliminary data but confirming the first decline in three quarters amid weak consumption and exports, government data. Mounting inventories at manufacturers also contributed to the upward revision of GDP, or the total value of goods and services produced domestically. But this may not be a good sign.
