Siem Reap ranked one of world's best travel spots

Siem Reap has been placed second among the world’s top 25 travel destinations in 2015, jumping seven places from last year’s ranking, as judged by leading online travel site TripAdvisor.

The site’s Travelers’ Choice awards are based on an algorithm that takes into account reviews of hotels, restaurants and tourism sites in a city. Marrakech of Morocco stood at the top on the list of global destinations, followed by Siem Reap.

In early February, Siem Reap hosted the first World Conference on Tourism and Culture, where representatives from 99 countries gathered to promote the link between culture and tourism. Cambodia welcomed 4.5 millions foreign tourists in 2014, up 7% compared with 2013. Siem Reap alone received 2.3 millions foreign tourists, up more than 5% in 2014.

ADB Sees Strong Growth for Developing Asia in 2015 and 2016

Developing Asia will maintain its strong economic growth in 2015 and 2016 supported by soft commodity prices and recovery in the major industrial economies.

ADB’s flagship annual economic publication, Asian Development Outlook 2015 (ADO), released today, forecasts developing Asia will achieve gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.3% in both 2015 and 2016. The region also grew 6.3% in 2014. As a group, these economies are forecast to expand by 2.2% in 2015, up 0.6 percentage points from 2014, and 2.4% in 2016.

Japan’s Recruitment Agency in Cambodia Launched

Procast Cambodia Co., Ltd., a Japanese recruitment agency launched its operation in Cambodia thanks to the latter’s economic potential.

The launching ceremony was held under Cambodian Minister of Labor and Vocational Training. He congratulated the official opening of Procast Cambodia Co., Ltd., pointing out that Cambodia has currently a total of 58 recruitment agencies and two NGOs that offer overseas job opportunities to Cambodians. Up to last year, there were some 720,000 Cambodians working in different foreign countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
