Cambodia’s Rubber Export Increases, but Revenue Earned Rises Slightly

First early 6 months Cambodia’s rubber export to international market rose highly, but the rubber price earned grew slightly due to declining the rubber price in the international market.

In the January-June period, Cambodia exported around 42,189 tons of rubber latex, up 91 percent from 22,116 tons as compared to the same period last year, according to data of the Ministry of Commerce. In this period, the nation earned revenue of US$75 million from the rubber export, up only 3 percent from US$73 million compared to the same period last year.

Last year, rubber was sold at US$2,000 to US$3,000 per ton, but this year at around US$1,600 to US$1,800 per ton. The nation has 330,000 hectares of rubber plantations, about 60,000 of which can produce the yield of rubber latex.
