The new
leadership of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia re-arranged under the
political agreement between the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Cambodia
National Rescue Party (CNRP) will be endorsed next week.
According
to the political agreement reached by both political parties on 22 July 2014,
CPP and CNRP agreed to re-organize the NA’s leadership by dividing the
leadership role in the Standing Committee by the 7 to 6 formula, and by establishing
another NA’s commission the Commission on Investigation, Clearance, and
Anti-corruption, and this new commission will be chaired by a CNRP lawmaker.
The NA
president will be from CPP, the first vice president from CNRP, and the second
vice president from CPP. CPP will chair the NA’s 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 9th
commissions, while CNRP will chair the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th, and 10th, the newly
established commission.
