Cambodian rice exports are
finding new markets and rising demand in ASEAN this year, but officials and
exporters are not linking this to the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), saying it
was too early to tell what impact the regional trade bloc – which took effect
at the end of last year – will have on rice exports. Cambodia exported
44,033 tons of rice – both white and fragrant – last month, up 22.6%
from the 35, 921 tons in the same month last year.
