Cambodia Holds a Workshop on Disability Inclusive Development in Employment Sector

8 May 2014

Cambodian Disabled People’s Organization (CDPO) organized a Workshop on Disability Inclusive Development in the Employment Sector.

The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation has issued successively Prakas (official announcement) and directives on the implementation of the duty to accept people with disabilities to work in various ministries and state institutions. Thanks to the ministry’s efforts and close cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions, in the past two years (2011-2013), some 1,468 (equivalent to 0.78%) disabled people have worked for 32 ministries and state institutions.

The Monash University has helped CDPO in terms of research technique to find out the barriers and obstacles that the disabled people have faced as well as to help them to have jobs after they have work capability.
