The National Assembly of Cambodia has approved a draft law on the
settlement contract between the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and CITELUM
S.A., a French company investing in the development of public lighting
infrastructure in Phnom Penh Capital.
The three-article draft law is part of the RGC’s efforts to attract
more tourists and enhance the people’s living standards. The development of
public lighting infrastructure project will increase income from the tourism
sector, from about US$12 million in 2015 to US$60 million in 2019, and create
some 15,000-16,000 careers, while the tax income will rise and the traffic
accidents will be reduced.
