Phnom Penh Municipality
welcomed the intention of a Japanese company to invest in the capital’s waste
management.
The welcome was shared in the
meeting late last week between Phnom Penh Deputy Governor H.E. Eang Aun Ny and
Mr. Yuske Okumara, Director of Koua Corporation at the municipal hall.
Phnom Penh daily disposes of
1.600 tons. The current inclusively commissioned to manage the waste is not
capable enough for the deal with the increasing waste disposal, making it one
of the major challenges of the Phnom Penh Municipality. The municipality is
looking for a qualified partner not only to ensure the capital’s cleanliness
but to process the waste appropriately. Mr. Yusuke Okumura appreciated the
opening of Phnom Penh authority and will study carefully the current waste management
in Cambodia before the next move.
Phnom Penh’s new dumping site
is located in the south-western suburb with the total 12.5 hectares. The first
two giant holes of the dumping site are expected to be filled up late this
year.
