The
three-day event of the 3rd Cambodia Constructors Summit and Construction
Industry Expo 2014 was opened here yesterday under the presidency of Minister
of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.
More than
200 types of construction products of 96 companies from over 100 countries
around the world have been displayed on 240 booths on the occasion. Last year,
Cambodia attracted US$2,800 millions of investment capital in the construction
sector, up some 31% if compared to 2012. Governor of Phnom Penh said the capital
city currently covers an area of over 678 square kilometers with more than 1.5
million residents. The population growth rate in Phnom Penh is 1.4% yearly;
therefore some new 200,000 houses would be needed annually.
