Constitutional Council of Cambodia Declares the Constitutionality of Three Laws

The Constitutional Council of Cambodia (CCC) announced the constitutionality of three laws related to the judicial system.

The three laws are the law on the organization of the courts, the law on the organization and functioning of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, and the law on the statute of judges and prosecutors. The three laws, approved by the NA in May 2014 and by the Senate in June 2014, will guarantee the independence of the judiciary, enhance the discipline of judges and prosecutors, and ensure the good functioning of the Cambodian judicial system.

The law on the organization of the courts has 8 chapters of 91 articles; while the law on the organization and functioning of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, 6 chapters of 31 articles; and the law on the statute of judges and prosecutors, 6 chapters of 111 articles.
