19 July 2014

Cambodia Bayon Airlines, a newcomer to Cambodia’s crowded domestic aviation scene, plans to operate domestic flights by the end of this year.

The airline vice president told local media that the airline is waiting for its air operations certificate to be approved by the Secretary of State Secretariat of Civil Aviation of Cambodia (SSCA). In addition, the airline plans to invest USD100 million over the coming months to purchase two Modern Ark 60 (MA 60) aircraft a turboprop-powered aircraft made by China’s Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation before launching regular domestic flights later this year.

Currently, only Cambodia Angkor Air and the little-known Siem Reap-based operator, Skywings Asia Airlines, have valid AOCs.
