Bayon Airlines, a newcomer to Cambodia’s crowded domestic aviation scene, plans
to operate domestic flights by the end of this year.
The
airline vice president told local media that the airline is waiting for its air
operations certificate to be approved by the Secretary of State Secretariat of
Civil Aviation of Cambodia (SSCA). In addition, the airline plans to invest
USD100 million over the coming months to purchase two Modern Ark 60 (MA 60)
aircraft a turboprop-powered aircraft made by China’s Xi’an Aircraft Industrial
Corporation before launching regular domestic flights later this year.
Currently,
only Cambodia Angkor Air and the little-known Siem Reap-based operator,
Skywings Asia Airlines, have valid AOCs.
