Deputy Prime Minister
Sok An said education is a backbone for the development of national economy and
other sectors. The education sector has seen notable progress both in quantity
and quality in response to the need of the competitive labor market.
Education quality
enhancement, effective research promotion, youth development, and reduction of
gap between supply and demand in labor market are part of Sok An’s
recommendations so as to achieve the Millennium Development Goal on universal
primary education by 2015 and the national education target of “Education for
All, All for Education.”
Cambodia has in total
2,813 kindergartens, 6,910 primary schools, 1,214 lower secondary schools, 433
higher secondary schools, and 104 higher educational institutions, with over
3.5 million students of the total population of more than 14 millions.
