On Cambodian Railway Rehabilitation Project

31 March 2014

A delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was on a three-day visit in Cambodia to learn about the implementation of Cambodian Railway Rehabilitation Project and to strengthen and expand the partnership between ADB and Cambodia. On the Cambodian Railway Rehabilitation Project, the government official said that from Phnom Penh Capital City to the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk, the rehabilitation of the 256-kilometer railway line finished in May 2013. On the other hand, the Northern Line has not been completed yet due to limited budget, he stressed.

For the 2014-2016 cooperation, ADB is planning to provide to Cambodia a financing of about US$773 million, including US$573 million in concessional loans from ADB and US$200 million as co-financing from different development partners through ADB. In addition, ADB would grant US$22.3 million in technical cooperation financing to Cambodia.
