USAID Launches Development Innovations Project and Lab

19 March 2014

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in cooperation with the Development Alternatives Incorporated, launched the Development Innovations project, a three-year activity designed to help increase the use of technology for social change in Phnom Penh.

Development Innovations will work with local partners and Cambodia’s community of innovators to respond to the challenges faced by civil society organizations who seek to inform and educate the public. By creating a space that can foster technological solutions to these challenges, Development Innovations will help to connect those organizations with the Cambodian public. With improved access to information and educational content, Cambodians will have the tools they need to improve their own lives.

Development Innovations has developed a toolkit that includes an innovation lab, a volunteer program, learning events, interest and working groups, networking opportunities, training curriculum, grant funding, a talent development program, an innovation resource center, and a mentor network.

By supporting the local innovation process and facilitating collaboration and partnerships among local civil society organizations and technologists, USAID hopes that Development Innovations’ lasting legacy will be a growing community of innovators with the capacity to use technology who are working together to improve the impact and pace of development in Cambodia.
