A feasibility study and evaluation for the construction project of road and bridge linking the provinces of Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Thom separated by Tonle Sap Lake are nearly completed soon.

Ministry of Public Works and Transport said that the bridge with a length of some 3,600 meters across Tonle Sap Lake and National Road No. 50C with a length of 60 kilometers will be built in connecting National Road No.5 in Kampong Chhnang province with National Road No.6 in Kampong Thom province.
When the study completed, the project will be carried out by Chinese company, he added.

Ministry hoped that the road is important for linking the Southern and Northern provinces of Tonle Sap Lake, it means that it will link National Roads No. 5 and 6 and the people will have no need to go to Phnom Penh for transit any more. The project could also enhance the national economic growth in the country, thus contributing to the poverty alleviation objective stated in the fifth mandate Cambodian government’s rectangular strategy and it will also be very useful because it will connect all areas in the country, saving time and money on cost of the travel and transportation of goods.
