IBEC of USAID Reports Success

A project to improve basic education in Cambodia, named IBEC, implemented through the funding support from U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has benefited 150,000 children in rural areas and produced lessons learned for sustainability.

From 2009 to 2014, the project has capacitated 550 school principles and 25 of them have become the trainers of trainers. 360 teachers from rural areas have also been trained. In addition to learning facilities, IBEC has also equipped schools with clean water and sanitation systems.
“About 44% of IBEC targeted primary schools and 65% of secondary schools have significantly reduced dropouts. And about 70% of primary schools and 59% of secondary schools have reduced their students repetition rate,”
