Cambodian
Foreign Minister met with his visiting Japanese counterpart discussing ways to
deepen bilateral ties and exchanging views on regional issues.
Cambodia
received 143 million U.S. dollars in grant and loan that Japan provides to
Cambodia for socio-economic development. Representative of Japanese counterpart
said it was his first visit to Cambodia with an aim to deepen bilateral ties in
all fields, particularly politics, economics, trade, investment and tourism.
The two
ministers also touched on regional issues such as the issue of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). On the issue of DPRK abducting Japanese
citizens, he said Cambodia urges DPRK to settle the problem based on humanity
and respect statements by the United Nations Security Council.
