The ruling
Cambodian People’s Party’s senior official Cheam Yeap has hinted Monday that
they have two new formulas for the National Election Committee selection.
Cambodian
People’s Party’s senior official said the two formulas included: three members
from Cambodian People's Party (CPP), and two members from Cambodia National
Rescue Party (CNRP), or four components from CPP, and three from CNRP. CPP is
the chairman, while vice chairman goes to CNRP. But Yeap said that the CPP
still maintains its stance to approve the NEC body by 50 percent plus one
majority vote. His comments came after the top leaders of the two parties
agreed to meet Tuesday, aiming to end the country's political crisis lasting
about a year after the election row in July.
In tomorrow’s
meeting, CNRP's acting president said that CNRP will request 3-3-3 formula
which meant three members each from CPP, CNRP and civil society and CPP would
examine the CNRP's new formula at meeting.
