MEANCHEY DISTRICT, Kampong Cham Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister said
Tuesday that Cambodia's fisheries production rose 6.7% from a year earlier to
728,000 tons last year.
He also said
that 528,000 tons came from freshwater fisheries and 110,000 tons from marine
fisheries. The remaining 90,000 tons came from aquaculture, up 21.6% from a
year earlier. Production of juvenile fish and prawns rose 7.1% to 150 million
in the same period.
Forestry
and Fisheries Minister said the number of illegal fishing cases fell 28.4% from
a year earlier to 3,802 in 2013. In 3,481 cases, illegal fishing gear was
destroyed.
