China pledges to buy 100,000 tons of rice from Cambodia

23 July 2014

A Chinese company is preparing a memorandum of understanding with Ministry of Commerce (MOC) pledging to buy 100,000 tons of rice from Cambodia.

The intention was made clear during a meeting between the Minister of Commerce and an economic and commercial counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia and a member of committee of Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF). The minister also urged support from both CRF and help to bring the memorandum into reality.

They agreed to let a group of Cambodian delegates to China in order to promote Cambodian rice in the mid of August this year. A memorandum of understanding with Chinese companies is expected to take place during the visit.
