Siem Reap draws more tourists

Siem Reap province’s tourism department reports international tourist arrivals to the province increased 10% during January to June this year.

The province should attract 2.5 million visitors, this year, even though the low season months see arrivals drop significantly. By October the peak season begins again pushing hotel occupancies to the limit of capacity for the last three months of the year. Siem Reap recently ranked second among the top 10 best Asian cities for tourists in a poll of Travel + Leisure magazine readers.

Siem Reap’s main attraction is Angkor Wat Historical Park, which was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1992 and is now the kingdom’s largest cultural tourist destination. Foreign tourists increasing 8.4% compared to 2012.
