Siem Reap
province’s tourism department reports international tourist arrivals to the
province increased 10% during January to June this year.
The
province should attract 2.5 million visitors, this year, even though the low
season months see arrivals drop significantly. By October the peak season
begins again pushing hotel occupancies to the limit of capacity for the last
three months of the year. Siem Reap recently ranked second among the top 10
best Asian cities for tourists in a poll of Travel + Leisure magazine readers.
Siem
Reap’s main attraction is Angkor Wat Historical Park, which was inscribed on
the World Heritage List in 1992 and is now the kingdom’s largest cultural
tourist destination. Foreign tourists increasing 8.4% compared to 2012.
