The Royal
Government of Cambodia (RGC) has approved a new public institute under the
management of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, and a new
department under the Ministry of Health.
The two
new public institutions are the Sleuk Rith Institute and the Department of
Mental Health and Drug Abuse. They were created by two separate sub-decrees
signed by Prime Minister in July and June, respectively. Located in the
compound of Boeung Trabek High School in Phnom Penh, the Sleuk Rith Institute
will include a museum, a training and research center on crimes, genocide,
conflicts and human rights, and a media center.
For its
part, the Department of Mental Health and Drug Abuse will be a key institution
for drafting national strategic plans and policies on mental health and drug
abuse.
