Cambodia’s Cargo Transportation Increases in First Five Months

The cargo transportation via both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap International Airports increased in the first five months of this year.

From January to May 2014, freight carried by aircraft reached 14,582 tons, of which 13,936 tons through Phnom Penh International Airport, and 646 tons via Siem Reap International Airport. The cargo transportation increased by 4.2% on average from 2005 to 2013 with a total 219,097 tons of goods. The report also pointed out that Cambodia received in total 22,446 flights via the two main international airports 9,728 flights via Phnom Penh International Airport and 12,718 flights via Siem Reap International Airport during the first five months of 2014.

Secretary of State for Civil Aviation of Cambodia, said recently that the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation is now working with one of Luxembourg’s airlines that wished to run cargo service linking Asia and the EU.
