Cambodian Trade Increase by 17.6% in Q1

In the first semester of this year, the Cambodian total trade reached US$8.95 billion, an increase by 17.6%, from US$7.61 billion during the same period last year.

The early 6 months in 2014 was valued at US$3.77 billion, up 20% from US$3.14 billion in the same period last year, whereas its import increased by 16%, from US$4.47 billion to US$5.18 billion. Noted that recent surge in foreign investments from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Malaysia will fuel Cambodia’s export in the future. The main exported products are garment and footwear products, and agricultural products such as milled rice, corn, soy bean, pepper, coffee, sugar, rubber latex, sesame, cattle, fishery products, and so on, while its major imported products include garment and textile raw materials, construction materials, vehicles, petroleum, food and beverage, medicine and medical equipment, cosmetics, etc.

The main trade partners of Cambodia are the U.S., the EU, China, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia and so on.
