Cambodia, Japan Reach a Deal on Low Carbon Growth Partnership

Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment and the Embassy of Japan have reached recently a deal on Low Carbon Growth Partnership. The deal was signed by Minister of Environment, and Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia. Global warming is the major challenge for all countries around the world. In this context, Cambodia and Japan have decided to boost for the Low Carbon Growth Partnership so as to achieve the target of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and sustainable development.

Under this deal, Cambodia and Japan will work together to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in Cambodia through Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) of the Carbon Markets.

Cambodia and Japan have already conducted a joint study on projects related to renewable energy and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) and from now on, Japan will consider the implementation of the projects under the JCM.
