Three
agreements for a total amount of US$6 million will be signed between the French
Development Agency (AFD) and three microfinance institutions (MFIs) in
Cambodia.
The
agreements will help 25,000 households in rural areas acquire solar equipment
and have access to electricity. The signing ceremony will be held on 31 October
2014, at 03:00 pm, at AFD office in Phnom Penh. Currently, MFIs are playing
important role in the Cambodian micro-economy. Cambodia Microfinance
Association, up to the 2nd quarter of this year, the country has in total 42
MFIs. They have provided loans to some 1.66 million people in a total amount of
US$1.63 billion, while the deposits reached US$653.7 million with 1,021,923
depositors.
