France
supports access to Justice thanks to a new grant to two Cambodian NGOs. These
projects will fund ADHOC and Legal Aid of Cambodia (LAC).
The two
funding agreements between the French Embassy and the two Cambodian NGOs, Legal
Aid of Cambodia (LAC) and the Cambodian Human Rights and Development
Association (ADHOC), were signed on 1-2 October 2014. The total amount of the
grant is about US$190,000 (152,500 Euros) and is provided through the Social
Fund for Development administered by the French Embassy in Cambodia. This new
funding reflects France’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law in
Cambodia and to supporting local civil society organizations.
These two
projects will fund legal aid programs for the poorest provided by ADHOC in
every province of Cambodia as well as the continuation of the representation of
civil parties by teams of Cambodian and international lawyers in the ongoing
case 002/2 at the ECCC.
