A group of
Japanese experts arrived in Cambodia Tuesday for a two-day visit as a follow-up
team regarding the needs survey implemented last May for electoral reform
assistance to Cambodia.
During the
stay in Cambodia, the team will make a presentation on the findings of the
survey in May to the members of CPP, CNRP's joint working groups and also have
discussions on future possible cooperation in electoral reform in Cambodia with
various stakeholders including election related authorities, foreign
development partners and civil society.
The last
study team mentioned above was dispatched from 19 to 23 May 2014, following the
announcement by Prime Minister of Japan, on the occasion of the Japan-Cambodia
Summit Meeting held in Tokyo in December last year, in response to the prior
request for Japan’s assistance to electoral reforms by Prime Minister Hun Sen,
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in November 2013.
The
experts will meet with first vice president of the National Assembly and acting
president of CNRP, Wednesday, and also CPP's officials.
