AFD Grants US$2 million to Develop Movie and TV Industry in Cambodia

France, through the French Agency for Development (AFD), has provided €1.5 million (about US$2 million) in grant to support the development of the movie and TV industry in Cambodia.

The agreement was signed here on 28 Aug. between the Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance, AFD and the French Embassy in Cambodia. The purpose of this new financing from AFD is to continue supporting the movie and TV industry in Cambodia, considered both as a cultural good and as a modern and promising economic sector.

France is also supporting the Bophana Center for 2013-2015 to preserving the audiovisual heritage of Cambodia, providing trainings and promoting young professionals of the sector, thanks to a separate US$350,000 grant.
