Japan Grants US$887,097 for Mine Clearance in Cambodia

Under the framework of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects, the Government of Japan has agreed to provide a total of ¥92,293,571 (approximately US$887,097) to Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS) for “The Project for Capacity Building on Demining for CMAC”.

The grant contract was signed here this morning at the Embassy of Japan between Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, and Resident Representative of JMAS. Under this project, besides capacity building for CMAC, some 5,900 people in four villages of Cheng Meanchey commune, Banan district, Battambang province, will be rescued from mine threat and fear.
