Cambodia imports construction materials worth 229 mln USD in first 6 months

Cambodia had spent about 229 million U.S. dollars buying construction materials from foreign countries in the first six months of 2014, up 3% from 223 million U.S. dollars over the same period last year.

During the January-June period this year, Cambodia had imported 1.22 million tons of construction materials, up 184% from 430,000 tons over the same period last year. The country got more quantity of materials because the prices of materials this year were cheaper than those of last year. The materials are mostly purchased from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, South Korea and Japan.

The country had attracted investment of 1.54 billion U.S. dollars in construction projects in the first six months of this year, a 210% rise compared to the same period last year.
