During the first eight months of this year, Cambodia has exported some 233,859 tons of milled rice, down some 2,869 tons if compared to the same period last year.
The Cambodian rice has been exported by 74 companies to 55 countries around the world. Of the total exported amount, about 48,877 tons have been sold to France, making it the largest importer of Cambodian milled rice, followed by Poland (43,829 tons), and Malaysia (21,773 tons). Despite the decline in rice export, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is still optimistic that Cambodia will be able to achieve its target of exporting at least 1 million tons of milled rice by 2015.
