The Phnom
Penh Municipality tested here yesterday afternoon the first solar-charged bus
before being put into use along with other public buses in the capital.
The trial,
presided over by Phnom Penh Municipal Governor and Director General of the
Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), started from the Phnom Penh
City Hall to the Old Stadium roundabout and went around Wat Phnom historical
site before returning to the Phnom Penh City Hall. This solar bus, which can
operate about 16 hours a day and carry up to 23 passengers, will be used for
the first line of public bus service, from Kilometer No. 9 to Kdey Takoy pagoda
in Khan Chbar Ampov.
