An agreement to launch
European Investment Bank (EIB) was signed recently between Secretary of State
of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Director of Asia and Latin America Department
of EIB.
The agreement was a
fundamental legal framework to pave the way for EIB to make operation in
Cambodia, which Cambodia has done so far with other development partners. EIB’s
credit will play a key role for the source of financing for private sectors of
paddy, mill rice, small and medium size entrepreneurs as well as development
partners between the public and private sectors.
From 1993 to 2010, the EIB
granted credit about 4,1billion Euros, of which 43% to China, 36 % to Southeast
Asia and 21% to other countries.
