Medical
military personnel from America, Japan and Australia have begun exchanges with
Cambodian medical officers in Sihanoukville.
The
Pacific Fleet said the eight-day demonstration of inter-operability was part of
the Pacific Partnership humanitarian aid and disaster-relief preparedness
mission which started on Thursday last week. "Pacific Partnership gives us
an understanding of what resources these countries have," said Royal
Australian Navy Lt. Greg Blackburn, a nursing officer and one of nine
Australians taking part in the mission this year. "So when we come back
for a real disaster relief mission, we have an idea of what they have and how
we can work together."
In
addition, US and Australian nurses teaching general nursing skills, including
physical assessments, observations skills and how to use and read
electrocardiogram (ECG) machines. The statement said the Pacific Partnership
team also had much to learn from the Cambodians, especially in relation to
disaster relief
