The Ministry of Economy and
Finance’s General Department of Taxation (GDT) collected roughly US$91.2
million as income in May, showing an increase by 25.4% as compared to the same
period in the previous year.
This amount of tax revenue
came from tax on profit, withholding tax, tax on salary, value added tax,
special tax on certain merchandises and services, turnover tax, vehicle tax, patent
tax and property tax, etc. For the first five months of this year, the total
tax revenue rose by 12.5 % over the same period last year. H.E. Kong Vibol
recommended the taxation officers at all levels to continue enforcing law
implementation, work discipline, professional code of ethics in order to
improve the work efficiency.
