Cambodia’s Hotel Industry Steps Forward to Green Hotel Standard

17 June 2014

The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism has been pushing the Cambodian hotel industry to step forward to green hotel standard.

Due to the tourists’ and market’s needs for green products as well as to the world’s green concept to prevent climate change, the hotel industry and other tourism-related services cannot not ignore the environmental responsibility anymore.

Minister of Tourism said the “Draft of Green Hotel Standard” was elaborated to measure the quality of hotel services in Cambodia so as to ensure their sustainability and responsibility in response to the green concept.

He strongly hoped that this document will become a strategic instrument to further improve the environment, product quality and tourism services in Cambodia.

From 2007 to 2013, among 400 hotels across the country, about 38 hotels have won the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard Awards.
