province today to highlight a $20 million U.S. government school feeding
program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and implemented by
the United Nations’ World Food Program (WFP).
The statement said that
Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, and WFP Country Representative, joined
Mr. Daigle to witness the early morning cooking and breakfast distribution,
where the children enjoyed a healthy meal of rice, yellow split peas, fortified
oil, salt and canned fish, mixed with vegetables grown from the school’s
USAID/HARVEST-supported garden. Mr. Daigle said, “Breakfast is the most
important meal of the day, and providing these children with a proper meal to
start the day will help ensure they are healthy and well-educated.”
